Dawsonville will be a hit with your tour groups. With unique places to visit like the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame (don't let the name fool you – it is really a history lesson about moonshine, Dawson County and its unique residents), the Dawsonville Moonshine Distillery, the only legal moonshine distillery in the state, and the only one in the nation located in a City Hall complex; Amicalola Falls, the highest waterfalls east of the Mississippi, (level ADA trail takes you all the way to the falls); scads of folk art and more than 140 outlet stores there is something for everyone in your group to enjoy.

Day 1

Mid Morning

Arrive in Dawsonville and start the day with a visit to our Welcome Center located off Georgia 400. Please call ahead to our welcome center and let them know your group is coming so they can have some information set aside for you.

Afterwards, head over to Etowah Valley Sporting Clays or Atlanta Motorsports Park (estimated two hours) for a thrilling clay shooting or driving experience.

Afternoon

Visit Dawson County's unique galleries and shops, including Around Back at Rocky's Place, Bowen Center for the Arts, Historic Jail and Courthouse. (estimated one to two hours)

Evening

Lodging Options
Sleep in the mountains in resort comfort at Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge, or at one of a number of choice limited-service hotels. Smaller groups may enjoy the ambiance at the Racer's Retreat nestled in the woods and serving a gourmet breakfast.

Dining Options
Groups can chow down on char-grilled steak at Longhorn's Steak House, Ryan's or enjoy dinner in the rustic ambiance at the Maple Restaurant at Amicalola State Park Lodge. Smaller groups may want to dine at one of the local favorites, the Blue Bicycle, serving fresh regional cuisine a more intimate setting.

Day 2

Morning

Get up, get out, get inspired! After a breakfast at your accommodations, revel in the beauty of the mountains. Walk along the level path to Amicalola Falls or along the Amicalola River, enjoy the view from the rocking-chair decks at the Lodge, or take part in a nature class. More active groups can hike up to the falls or sign up for team-building activities.

Amicalola Falls State Park
Visit the cascading 729-foot waterfall, the highest east of the Mississippi River and enjoy spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Recreational activities include hiking, trout fishing, and sightseeing on 1,020 acres of natural surroundings. A level pathway made of recycled tires makes it possible for everyone to see the falls – close enough to feel the spray on your face. Amicalola State Park offers ongoing nature classes and will have a ranger speak to your group. Perfect for church groups, faith-based retreats and active adults, Amicalola offers shelter areas for gatherings and barbecues in addition to team building activities.

Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area
Heavily forested 24,000 acres with horseback riding, fishing, interpretive nature trails, bird watching, canoeing on the Amicalola and Etowah Rivers. Walk along the ADA-accessible boardwalk to the "Edge of the World" rapids. Birdwatchers can check with Wild Birds Unlimited for a free guided birdwatching tour in Dawson Forest.

Visit the Iconic Dawsonville Pool Room and try out the famous "Bully Burger"

Get out your shopping shoes for the North Georgia Premium Outlets (3 hours)

Evening

Rejuvenate and refresh! After this active day, it's time to rest and get ready for a fun evening. Return to your accommodations for some downtime or enjoy some local entertainment. Enjoy a birdwatching walk with Wild Birds Unlimited and learn about the local species in our area.

Day 3

Morning

Have breakfast at your accommodations then set out for your last day of adventure.

Tour the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and learn of the legendary racers from the state of Georgia. Don't miss Dawsonville Moonshine Distillery located in the heart of "The Moonshine Capital of the World". This tour is led by master distillers, and those of legal age may choose to sample the product at the conclusion of the tour.
